Medical school hopeful, losing hope.?

After hours upon hours upon hours of studying, my Honors general chemistry (year 1) class of my freshman year resulted in no more than a D+. Last semester of chem I got a C. Even after getting a tutor, varying study techniques, and taking to my professor several times, I'm boggled at how an intelligent student can be ruined by a class like this. I'm fully aware of the grades needed to enter medical school, but my heart is set on it.

Any guidance in terms of suggestions or advice for where to go from here would be greatly appreciated.

Medical school hopeful, losing hope.?
i sure do hope your hopes of medical schoo arent crushed! if these classes did make you lose interest and hope in medical skool then choose another major but if you still wanna become a doctor, just keep on doing what your doing, ma. focus on skool n try to keep relationships and other probs out yur head. skoo, is a priority and making it to med skool is a dream. stop focusing on med skool ma, just try to pass your class, mayb this'lll help. even if i dnt answer ur q i wish u the best of luck and hope you succeed in all your endeavors.
Reply:Yours isn't an unusual story. I'd suggest dropping out of the AP Chem level and repeating Gen Chem. An important thing to remember about chemistry is that once you grasp the fundamentals, it really isn't a difficult subject. But getting to the point that your 'light bulb' goes on may take trying different tutors. But it is a certainty that once you get it, you'll breeze right along, so don't get frustrated.

Finding a good tutor is key--keep searching.
Reply:Well gen chem is not the only requirement for getting into med school. You also have to take biology, physics, organic chem, and calc to get in. If you do good in all these other classes, it might be able to make up for your gen chem grades. Since going to med school is your ultimate goal, I would continue preparing for med school. Don't be disheartened by this one class.
